Before getting into the details, we would like to share the reason that led us to cover this topic. We are often asked about how we attract consistent leads for B2B professional clients. To make that clear, we decided to write this post.
For B2B businesses, our work starts long before execution. Here we mean, it is initiated with a structured SEO audit that sets the direction for everything that follows. Our audit is actually grounded in real decision-making because that is something which actually matters for B2B clients.
(Although we have discussed SEO audits for B2B websites before, this blog is dedicated to how we approach SEO audits for B2B professional websites)
Here are the Inputs We Analyze Before Running an SEO Audit

Do you know why we analyze the above information? Because this is how we understand how a client wants their website to actually work for their business, something no tool can truly reveal.
There is one more reason worth highlighting here – the initial inputs review helps us understand which pages the client considers central to decision-making and which ones are meant to play a supporting role.
That means we get an idea which pages will need our more attention.
These 5 Steps Help Us Audit Every B2B Website Offering Professional Services
As you can see, we’ve broken down the entire process into steps. Each step answers a different question about how the website performs and where it may be falling short.
Let’s explain :
Step 1. Technical SEO Audit
While performing the technical SEO audit our objective remains centered on determining if the search engines like Google, AI tools are able to access and process the client’s website correctly or not.
What We Do Exactly
a. First, we scan the key page URLs using Screaming Frog to identify crawlability, indexation issues, canonical conflicts, and redirect chains
b. After that, we also cross-check the same findings identified in the client’s Google Search Console dashboard to validate the results identified earlier.
c. Next, we use PageSpeed Insights to review load behavior and performance of key site pages. This helps us evaluate how efficiently search engines and other AI systems process the client’s website.
Step 2. Audit On-Page SEO Through a Search-Intent Lens
Our on-page SEO audit is always directed toward aligning the client’s website with end users’ search intent. Basically, we check whether each page of their site matches with how their target decision makers search or not.
Alongside, we evaluate if the site pages show what searchers expect to see at their current stage or not.
What We Do Exactly
a. For each page, first we look at the title, H1, URL and content of the first section. And that’s how we get an idea about what user query the page actually wants to answer and ultimately rank for.
b. Next, we review the identified query in Ahrefs. Using it, we get to know which competitor sites are currently ranking at the top for that specific query and what intent Google has interpreted behind that.
c. Further, we manually check Google search results for the same queries. This helps us see exactly what the top site pages look like and how they’ve satisfied searcher’s intent in practice.
d. Keeping the above insights in mind, we assess whether each page of the client’s site –
- targets one clear search intent
- uses page titles and H1 headings that clearly reflect the client’s service or solution they offer
- follows structure that supports headings exhibiting expertise and relevance (basically does not dilute the topic)
- uses URLs that clearly communicate page purpose to both users and search engines
- applies internal links with descriptive anchor text that supports topic clarity
- avoids keyword overlap with other pages that may cause internal competition
Step 3. Assess Content Depth and Topical Coverage
This is the critical step of our audit process as here we understand whether the client has covered meaningful topics that support the search intent of users for both Google and AI systems or not.
Specifically, we check:
- whether all core services and solution areas are properly covered
- if supporting content exists to strengthen key service pages
- whether important topics are missing, underdeveloped, or fragmented
- if multiple pages cover the same topic unnecessarily, creating redundancy
Step 4. Evaluate Backlink Profile and Authority Signals
Our objective behind conducting authority and backlink quality analysis is to check whether our client’s site is connected to credible, niche-relevant external websites or not.
What We Do Exactly
- Check relevance of linking websites to the client’s industry and services
- Review editorial context (see whether the client’s site got natural mention or forcefully placed)
- Evaluate anchor text patterns to ensure they appear natural and descriptive
- Check distribution of links across key service pages (because links to only homepage are not sufficient)
- See if the client’s site is over relying on a small number of domains
- Check the presence of low-quality, spammy or manipulative links
Step 5. Consolidate Findings and Define Clear Next Actions
This is our final step. Here, we gather insights obtained after the audit and then evaluate all of them together to identify –
- where the biggest opportunities exist
- which issues are blocking growth
- what actions will realistically impact visibility and lead quality
and then make a list of all the fixes.
Here’s What Our SEO Audit Report Includes That We Submit to Our B2B Professional Clients
