Increased Revenue by 245% for a Shopify Clothing Brand in 6 Months

Overview

The store had invested a heavy amount in paid advertising. But, it all went in vain because searchers rarely bother visiting a sponsored ad.

SEO is the only source through which a brand can get digital recognition organically. When our client understood this, they contacted us and showed interest in our Shopify SEO services.

Challenges We Encountered

We faced some real challenges while optimizing the site. But achieved outstanding results when we capitalized our efforts in the right direction. We hope you can learn from our experience, and reading this case study can provide value in fixing issues in your e-commerce store.

The goal was clear-convert the client’s site to an SEO friendly website. But, boosting the optimizing score was not easy, as the clothing business is highly saturated

Let’s wrap up your suspense and make you aware of the challenges we encountered in this journey!

1. Wrong Keywords Targeted

The keyword strategy followed by the store could have been more efficient. They needed to target the right type of keywords, which could bring in potential conversion opportunities.

Terms like” formal wear,” “men’s clothing,” and” women’s clothing” were their focus keywords. However, these keywords were already highly competitive.

Potential customers on Google search products using long-tail keywords, and our experience says the same. We have witnessed success for ecommerce stores only when they focus their targeting from generic to potential terms (search intent+ proper keyword research).

After auditing, keyword research was our next step, and you can call it a foundation step for any e-commerce store. The more effort you put in here, the closer you reach to your store’s success.

2. H1 Tags Missing

The absence of the H1 tag negatively impacted the store’s SEO. Besides, it could not retain visitors because the relevancy factor was missing.

3. Outdated Product Information

A low click-through rate was noticed for the store’s products. The reason was apparent: rich snippets were not updated, lowering their visibility in search results.

Solution-How We Used Our Approach

Here are the solutions that helped us improve SEO metrics for our client’s store:

1. Use of Strategized Keywords (Focussed to Drive Organic Search)

We got our target terms for each page when we conducted keyword research using a premium set of tools.

But first, we categorized them into 6 types. Here, we are showing a few examples for each type:

  • Product Keywords-Women’s black leather jacket, Men’s blue slim-fit jeans
  • Category Keywords-Summer dresses, Winter coats
  • Style/ Fashion Trend Keywords-Bohemian maxi dress, Retro bomber jacket
  • Size & Fit Keywords-Plus-size swimwear, Petite cocktail dresses
  • Occasion Keywords-Wedding guest dresses, Formal evening gowns
  • Color Keywords-Red party dress, Navy blue blazer

Along with these, one type of keyword that brought us a great benefit was the inclusion of price keywords. These days, customers search within a certain price range. So, we kept it like

“Affordable men’s suits,” “ Designer dresses under $100”.

2. Inclusion of H1 Tag

We knew we had to establish relevance for users. So, we included an H1 tag for the “Women’s Dresses” page; the H1 tag was-Shop the Latest Styles. Similarly, we added appropriate and engaging H1 tags for every product page. It worked. The bounce rate was reduced, and the search engine also got an indication of what this page was about.

3. Accurate Rich Snippets Updated

When we highlighted product ratings, prices, and availability in the rich snippets, CTR improved, and it happened because we provided additional information.

We were not wasting visitors’ time this way, and as a result, more interested potential customers were arriving at the store. Conversion rate and sales also got boosted.

4. Created a Backlink Profile

We wanted to increase trustworthiness and signal authority for our client’s store. So, our link-building specialists devoted their attention to building a diverse and natural backlink profile.

We created almost 179 backlinks from reputed sites, which increased organic traffic and helped us establish brand authority.
